Time to break 'Maya-jaal': Sonia

Taking on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday exhorted the people of the state to bring about a change in the state and break the “Maya jaal” (Mayawati regime) to ensure all-round development.

“UP has been the pride of the country but it has suffered during the past 22 years under successsive non-Congress regimes...time has now come to break the ‘maya jaal’,” Sonia said while addressing an election meeting at Moradabad.

“The BJP, SP and BSP have cleverly divided the social life of UP by their policy of divide and rule....every limit has been crossed and it cannot be tolerated any more,” she said.

The Congress president rued that the state had lagged behind in terms of development owing to the faulty policies by the regimes that ruled here.
