Now, you can hear 'Jana Dhwani'

Jana Dhwani the first community radio in the district made a start here on Friday. Rajya Sabha member and noted actress B Jayashri dedicated the facility, a first of its kind from Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM).

Speaking on the occasion, Jayashri said the people of nearby areas have got a new voice in the form of the radio which will not only help them with information on art, culture, music and also tribals, but will also be a platform to showcase talents if any.

The radio should encourage culture and tradition of the land too, she stressed.

Jayashri who will be singing and telling stories on the very radio henceforth, rendered ‘Gajamukhane he ramba..’ invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The song was also transmitted on the radio later.

Introducing the facility, CEO of SVYM Dr M A Balasubramaniam said the radio is available on 90.8 mhz and will reach up to 10 km covering 40 villages centering Sargur.

Initially, one can hear to the radio for 30 minutes which will be later extended in the coming days. Basile, an entrepreneur institute of the government of India has lent technical expertise besides equipment and other related facilitiess free of cost.

Chairperson of social and economic empowerment, SVYM, B T Poshini presided. General manager R Narasimha Swamy from Broadcast Engineering Consultant India R Narasimha Swamy, managing director of Kanteerava Studio N Vishukumar, chairman, SVYM, Dr M R Seetharam were present.
