Kanakapura errant ACF suspended

The State government on Thursday suspended Assistant Conservator of Forests, Kanakapura sub-division, K D Srinivas, for dereliction of duty and flouting the Forest Protection Act, 1980 by allowing illegal mining in Kanakapura.

In a circular issued by the State forest department, the decision was taken based on a report submitted by APCCF, Vigilance, Dipak Sharma, and the revelations of a surprise inspection by Bangalore wing department officials in Kanakapura.

Srinivas is said to have colluded with owners of quarrying units and submitted misleading reports to the department, despite continued complaints on the rampant illegal quarrying activities in Kanakapura.
