The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday raided the premises of former officials of the Air Force and Naval Housing Board (AFNHB) in connection with an alleged scam involving Rs 28 crore for building 300 farm houses for serving and retired officers.

According to sources, the CBI carried out searches on four premises after registering a case against officials of the AFNHB and a private company—Shree Ganesh Estate & Construction—for a fraudulent land deal in Haryana.

The residences of Air Vice Marshal (retd) K K Sangar, the then director-general of the board, Commander (retd) P C Yadav, the then deputy director general of the board, V P Tandon, Wing Commander (retd), director (works) of the board and commander (retd) Dariyao Singh, owner of the estate and constructions were raided.

The probe agency alleged that in 1996 the officers showed undue favours to the private firm resulting in a loss of Rs 28 crore to the board and corresponding gain to themselves.

“It is alleged that the then DG, AFNHB, DDG, AFNHB and the then Director (Works), AFNHB, New Delhi, during the year 1996 selected New Delhi-based Estate & Constructions for the purchase of land in Kabulpur village in Haryana and Motiput in Uttar Pradesh. The accused showed favour to the private party resulting in undue wrongful loss of about Rs 28 crores to the AFNHB and a corresponding gain to themselves,” the agency said in a statement released here.

The investigating agency added that the searches have resulted in the recovery of several incriminating documents, which are being scrutinised.
