Nationwide bank strike on Feb 28

Opposing the anti-labour policies of the Central government, all the banks are going on a nationwide strike on February 28, said convener of women council of AIBEA Lalitha Joshi.

She was addressing a press meet prior to the ‘third state-level women convention’ here on Sunday.

She said, “Recommendations of Khandelwal committee are against labourers, as it says that employees can be transferred anywhere. The Central government should not accept the report. The convention is a prelude to the nationwide general strike, representing total working class in country. If the committee’s recommendations come into force, women employees will be in soup and families will be forced to live separately.”

“AIBEA has rightly joined hands with Central trade unions in calling upon the employees in banking industry in observing the nationwide strike to fight against banking sector reforms which are said to be against interests of common people of the country. Women employees have been vehemently opposing the recommendations of Khandelwal committee which amongst others are directly affecting their welfare and even new women recruits,” she added.
