CBI books ex-Maj Gen, 2 MCD officials for illegal construction

The CBI has booked a retired Major General and two officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for allegedly facilitating unauthorised construction.

The agency had registered a case of criminal conspiracy under Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act against the then MCD officials - Assistant Engineer Anil Mittal and Junior Engineer S K Mann - for allegedly allowing Major General (Retd) Ugrasen Yadav to carry out unauthorised construction at his premises in Mahipalpur area during the period 2008-2010.

The agency carried out search operation at the residence of Yadav in Sector-23 in Gurgaon from where it claims to have recovered documents relating to various investments, expenditures and properties in his name and in the name of his family members, CBI officials said.

The searches were also carried out by the probe agency in the residences of Mittal in Sushant Lok phase-I, Gurgaon, and Mann at Pushpanjali Enclave, Pitampura, from where it claimed to have recovered documents relating to investments and expenditures in their and family members name, they said.

"Incriminating documents pertaining to the unauthorised constructions recovered at the office of Executive Engineer, Najafgarh Zone, MCD New Delhi, are being scrutinised for further investigation," a CBI spokesperson said here.
