Fit-again Pattinson returns in Australia's ODI squad

Last Updated 28 February 2012, 06:49 IST

Fit-again James Pattinson was today named in Australia's 13-member ODI squad for the remaining matches of the ongoing cricket tri-series against India and Sri Lanka, including the best of three finals beginning at the Gabba on March 4.

Pattinson, who will come at the expense of Ryan Harris, is the only change in the Australian squad.

The 21-year-old Pattinson has been in the sidelines for more than a month after featuring in the first two Tests against India because of a stress injury in his left foot.

But Cricket Australia's chief selector, John Inverarity said Pattinson is now fit to play after fully recovering from his injury.

"James Pattinson is fit again and after impressive recent form in a Futures League match in Adelaide, comes into the squad at expense of Ryan Harris, who has been dropped," Inverarity said.

He, however, said that Harris remains a part of Australia's Test plans for the forthcoming tour of the West Indies in April.

Inverarity also said that captain Michael Clarke, who missed Australia's previous match against India in Sydney due to a back complaint, may play against Sri Lanka in the final round-robin match on Friday.

"Michael Clarke is making a good recovery and is likely to resume on Friday," he said.
"The selectors will consider adding an extra player to this squad for the Commonwealth Bank Series Finals matches, if conditions warrant it," Inverarity added.

Australia squad: Michael Clarke (captain), Shane Watson (vice-captain), Dan Christian, Xavier Doherty, Peter Forrest, Ben Hilfenhaus, David Hussey, Michael Hussey, Brett Lee, Clint McKay, James Pattinson, Matthew Wade, David Warner.
