Kodagu Sahithya Parishat to get Rs 5 lakh grant

 
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, he said of Rs 5 lakh grant, Rs one lakh will be earmarked for publishing books. Four books will be published at seventh district Kannada Sahithya Sammelan scheduled to be held on January 20 and 21 at Shanivarasanthe.

It has been decided to bring out four books on history of Kodagu, collections of poems by upcoming poets, small stories by the district writers and others issues.

“We have already invited stories, poems, essays from the district writers. However, we did not get good response. Interested can send their poems, tories, essays to District Kannada Sahithya Parishath office before September 20.” He said Moornadu hobli Kannada Sahithya Parishath unit will be inaugurated on October 8. Kannada Sahithya Parishath President Dr Nallur Prasad will be invited. A meeting has been convened on September 6 to start Sampaje hobli level Kannada Sahithya Parishath unit. As many as 263 members have been registered to Kannada Sahithya Paristh this year. As a result, the KSP membership will cross thousand in the district, he added.

Ramesh said it has been decided to start Kannada Sahithya Parishath units in villages.  It is sad that the work on Suvarna Samskrithika Samucchaya was not started even after laying foundation two years ago. The survey work for Sahithya Bhavana will be undertaken soon.

It has been decided to hold 12 endowment lectures in three taluks this year. The district-level poets meet, quiz, drawing pictures of poets, natakotsava and singing competitions. At the same time, it has also been decided to organise a State-level seminar in association State Sahithya Academy on October 12 at Madikeri.

Deputy Commissioner has been requested to constitute a committee to organise Kodagu utsava and Gadi utsava. DC in turn has assured to convne a meeting after the central team visits the flood affected areas. A meeting will be convened on September 12 at 2 pm at Shanivarasanthe to constitute sub committees for seventh district level Kannada Sahithya Sammelan. Central government offices are not implementing Kannada in administration, he alleged.
