Remake of a French hit

Adapted: The cast of Bumboo. Bumboo’, produced by RCL Motion Pictures, is based on the French film L’emmerdeur by Francis Veber. It has been directed by Jagdish Rajpurohit and adapted to suit Indian sensibilities. The movie stars Kavin Dave, Sharat Saxena, Sanjay Mishra and Sudhir Pandey.

The story revolves around a bumbling professional hit man, a stock market scamster, a press photographer, cops, a psychiatrist, a bell boy, a married woman and her new boyfriend, a failed suicide attempt and a chain of hilarious events that go out of control when one mistake leads to another and the plans go awry.

Veber, who has adapted his story to an Indian context for the film, says, “I am very proud to see a great country like India being interested in my work and I was amazed by Jagdish Rajpurohit’s remake of L’emmerdeur. It has all the flavours of Bollywood and has succeeded in keeping the spirit of my movie intact. The music directors Faiz Ur Rehman (from Pakistan) and Santokh Singh have added zest and a unique flavour to the film.”

Joining the bandwagon

Just three films old, Brazilian model and Bollywood actress Giselle Monteiro is looking forward to joining the ‘Sheilas’ and ‘Munnis’ of tinsel town.

She recently shot for an item number for Pranam Walekum called Nautanki Queen Hoon, India Se Aayee Hoon.

Sources reveal that Giselle plunged into rehearsals as soon as she returned from her two month holiday in Brazil.

Apparently, the young actress rehearsed for 18 hours a day for ten days before shooting the song. Let’s wait and watch if she can really charm us with her latkas and jhatkas.

Untouched by beauty

When the famous movie Mahal was being shot in 1949, movie moghul Savak Wacha, Ashok Kumar’s producer partner in Bombay Talkies’ studio, was untouched by Madhubala’s ethereal beauty.

He insisted that singing star Suraiya would make a more alluring Kamini.

When Kamal Amrohi, who had sold him the script on the condition that he be allowed to direct the film, tried to argue Madhubala’s case, Savak pointed out to him that Ashok Kumar and Suraiya made a better pair and would be able to sell his off-beat ghost story at the box office. But
Kamal was adamant and Madhubala got the role.

Made on a budget of Rs nine lakh, the movie went on to do a business of Rs 30 lakh in Bombay and Delhi alone. It turned the fortunes of the sinking studio —the Bombay Talkies.

Rekha inspires Bebo

Idol: Rekha Kareena Kapoor admits that Rekha and Madhuri Dixit’s numbers inspired her to do a mujra. “My mujra in ‘Agent Vinod’ is no match to Rekhaji’s style, but is a tribute to her,” says Kareena, whose mujra is being touted as the highlight in Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Agent Vinod’.

She says the song Dil Mera Muft Ka has been choreographed by none other than Saroj Khan. “It was a great experience but the song gave me sleepless nights. When
Dinesh proposed the idea of shooting a mujra, I was nervous. But Saif’s encouragement helped me pull it off.”

Fascinated by India

Hollywood’s fascination with India seems to have no end. The latest film-maker, looking to capture the country on film, is the Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow. Even though the maker of ‘The Hurt Locker’ (2009) has remained tight-lipped about her next project that revolves around the slain Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, rumour has it that portions of the film will be shot in India. A hush-hush schedule is expected to be held in the country soon.

Small yet noble deed

Guess who we spotted at a local supermarket doing a sweet little good deed? It was none other than model-turned-actor Rajniesh.

Apparently, the actor was shopping for some provisions at the mart and as he reached the counter to make his payment, he noticed a few small underprivileged kids at the door.

These little children were struggling to count change to buy a chocolate for themselves.
Not many know but Rajniesh is a big chocolate-lover himself and his heart immediately went out to the kids.

An onlooker said, “Without thinking twice, Rajniesh purchased a big box of chocolates and handed it over to the group of kids. His sweet gesture brought an instant smile on the faces of the kids who obviously could not hide their excitement.”

Kudos to the actor for his good deed!
