Engg student killed in road accident

A second semester BE (civil) student was killed  after he was thrown off his bike, while trying to overtake a goods vehicle, near Laggere bridge in Peenya traffic police limits on Tuesday. 

Somashekhar B, 20, was a student of the Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology near Jnanabharati campus of Bangalore University. 

Somashekhar left home around 8 am on his two-wheeler (KA-02-HN-5138) to the college. On Laggere Ring Road, he tried to move past a goods vehicle (KA-21- 6772), when its driver was attempting to overtake a speeding BMTC bus. This resulted in Somashekhar’s two-wheeler hitting the goods vehicle. 

The impact of the accident was such that he was tossed up in the air, and fell on a median and suffered massive head injuries, said the police. Somashekhar was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The goods vehicle driver, R Praveen Kumar, rushed Somashekhar to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. 
Somashekhar was the only son of Byregowda and Lakshmidevi, residents of Nandini Layout,16th Main Road, IV Block.  The post-mortem was conducted at MS Ramaiah Hospital and the body handed over to his parents, said the police.
