‘Water Day’

To celebrate the ‘World Water Day’  on March 22, Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is organising an exhibition, film screenings, real-life presentations, discussions etc.The theme of the exhibition centres on groundwater and specifically the open well, and its role in Bangalore and its surroundings. Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is inviting photographs around this theme to be sent at — zenrainman@gmail.com, drvivekm@gmail.com.

The deadline is March 10.

The photographs can be low-resolution jpeg images. Selected photographs will then have to be sent in high resolution fit-to-print quality.

The submissions could be recent or from older collections, in black and white or colour. They could be single images, photo essays or collages. Multimedia or short videos generally not exceeding five minutes in duration are also acceptable.

The photo exhibition is designed to organise a discussion around the role of the well historically and in its present condition.

The submissions need not be focused on the well alone but could also portray life around it.

Wine festival

The ‘International Wine Festival’ will be held at White Petals, Bangalore Pal­ace Grounds from March 2 to 4. The flea market at the fes­tival will bring in the festive atmosphere of an open air bazaar.

Those who visit the flea market will get a cha­nce to shop the merchandise made by a variety of local artisans and craftsmen, while grooving to the music of the popular band ‘Euphoria’ as well as some of Bangalore’s best local bands. The timing is from 11 am to 10 pm.

‘Scientific Thinking’

A talk on ‘Scientific Thinking’ by Adam Bly will be held on March 6, 6.30 pm at the Bangalore International Centre, Teri Complex, 4th Main, 2nd Cross, Domlur II Stage. For details, call 9886599675.

Storytelling

The Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, in collaboration with Kathalaya, is organising an evening of storytel­ling (English) with Indo-German st­orytellers on March 3, 6 pm.

Geeta Ramanujam from India and Ma­rtin Ellrodt and Dirk Nowa­kowski from Germany will dive into their treasure trove of stories and regale the audience with tales from afar.  The venue is Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan. Entry is free. Children above the age of five, parents, students, teachers are invited.

Tournament

The Karnataka State Bridge Association is holding a ‘Bridge League Tournament’ in Bangalore. The winning team will get Rs 15,000 and each member of the winning team will receive a trophy.  The total cash prize disbursement will be at least Rs 30,000. The matches will start on March 20. The entry fees is Rs 600 per team of four. Entry forms are available by email.
