State H1N1 toll is now 32

While a 16-year-old boy expired at a corporate hospital on Wednesday, a 31-year software engineer died at Lakeside Medical Centre and Hospital on Tuesday. A 45-year old man died at a private hospital in Belgaum and a 36-year-old woman passed away at Sirsi in Uttara Kannada District.

The 16-year-old boy who succumbed to the virus was admitted to hospital 15 days ago. A doctor said the boy died due to cardiogenic shock where the virus had infected his heart (Myocardosis). 

The 31-year-old victim, an employee of HP, was admitted to Lakeside Hospital on August 28 as he complained of fever and cough; he was diagnosed with bi-lateral pneumonia.  RMO Dr Raviraj said that the patient was put on ventilator, his swab was collected and Tamiflu administered immediately. The cause of death was ARDS. Meanwhile 32 fresh cases tested positive for the flu including 22 cases in Bangalore, three each in Belgaum and Bijapur, two in Dharwad and one each in Karwar and Davangere.  

The total number of persons who tested positive for the H1N1 Influenza is 517 in the State.
