In a major haul, the Special Task Force of the Kolkata Police on Sunday seized a rocket launcher manufacturing equipment, Rs 36 lakh in cash and other documents from the flat of an arrested Maoist leader in the North 24-Parganas district of West Bengal.

The STF raided the flat of Ramkrishna, alias RK, at Ayodhyanagar in Birati, based on information given by him during interrogation. Some Maoist literature and documents were also recovered. Ramkrishna stayed in the flat under a false name, STF sources said.
Ramkrishna and another arrested Maoist leader accompanied the sleuths during the raid, they said.

Ramkrishna, Maoist Central Technical Committee member and four other key members of the CPI (Maoist) were arrested by the elite anti-Naxal force Grey Hounds of Andhra Pradesh and the STF in a joint operation that stretched on February 29 and March 1.

The operation was the first since the killing of CPI (Maoist) politburo member Kishenji by the Joint Forces in Jangalmahal, four months ago.

Police said Ramakrishna from Andhra Pradesh, the possible successor to Kishenji, was, along with Dipak Kumar from Chhattisgarh, tasked with restructuring the organisation’s Bengal operation.
