Various organisations honour hockey 'heroes' in Madikeri

Various organisations felicitated Indian hockey players V R Raghunath, S V Sunil and S Uthappa on Monday.

The players who hail from Kodagu district were part of Olympics qualifying team which defeated France to qualify for the Olympics.

It was a heartening moment for the players and also those who were felicitating them.
Zilla Panchayat president Shantheyanda Ravi Kushalappa, CMC president H M Nandakumar, World Hockey Championship player of 1975 Paikera Kalaiah, senior trainer C V Shankara Swamy, Kodagu Hockey Association secretary Partha Changappa felicitated the players.

Speaking after accepting felicitation, Raghunath said “We feel proud to get felicitated in our home town.”

Zilla Panchayat president Kushalappa said that the district has been supporting the sports.  CMC president H M Nandakumar said that synthetic track has been laid in Madikeri to help the athletes from the district.
