US firm may fill potholes on highways

The State government is contemplating to allow a US-based private company to fill potholes on State highways and major district roads (MDR) using "state-of-the-art technology".

Public Works Minister C M Udasi told reporters in the City on Tuesday the State government is planning to allow US-based Phyton Company to fill potholes on 2,000 km of State highways and MDR on a pilot basis.

The Cabinet will soon take a decision on collecting toll on nine stretches of State highways at its next meeting, he said. Work on upgradation of the 109-km stretch between Gubbi-Mandya-Kodale at a cost of Rs 196 crore and 68-km stretch between Magadi-Koratagere and Dobbespet will be launched on Wednesday.
