‘Rangapravesham’

‘Hybrid’

The Institut Français and the Alliance Français will present ‘Hybrid’, a lecture demonstration by artiste Céline Pradeu-Kanagasaba on the fusion of bharatanatyam and contemporary

Kathak

Karthika Menon will be presenting a recital on March 9, 6.30 pm at the ADA Rangamandira, J C Road. Karthika Menon was introduced to kathak by renowned kathak dance couple Hari and Chethana in 2007. She has performed along with the ensemble at various prestigious platforms.

‘Ugadi Utsava’

Ananya is holding Ugadi Utsava on March 9, 6.30 pm. On the occasion, a flute recital, Kanchi Kamakshi, by J B Shruthi Sagar, accompanied by B K Raghu (violin), S Ashok (mridangam), will be organised. Merusamaana Dheera, a vocal recital by Amrutha Venkatesh, will be held on March 10, 6.30 pm. He will be accompanied by Anana Viswanathan (violin), B C Manjunath (mridangam), G Omkar (ghatam). A vocal recital by G Ravi Kiran, called Naa Jeevaadhaara, will be held on March 11, also at 6.30 pm. He will be accompanied by Charulatha Ramanujam (violin), Tanjore Praveen Kumar (mridangam) and M A Krishna Murthy (ghatam). The venue for all the recitals is Ananya Sabhangana, 91/2, 4th Main, Malleswaram.


‘Horizon Series’

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), in collaboration with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, will be presenting a flute recital under the ‘Horizon Series’ on March 10, 6.30 pm at the Khincha Auditorium, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road featuring Dr B Vijayagopal, an empanelled artiste of the ICCR.

Guetta magic

‘Grammy Award’-winning artiste, producer, DJ David Guetta will perform in the City at the second edition of ‘Eristoff Invasion’ on March 11 at Palace Grounds (Gayatri Vihar Entrance). ‘Hanging...’

‘Hanging the Walls’, a solo exhibition of paintings by Sachidananda K J, will be held from March 8 to 28, 10.30 am to 6 pm.

Sachidananda’s works are based on living spaces, their role and influence on people and their lives.

Fine portfolio

A photography exhibition by Norman Parkinson called ‘Pink is the Navy Blue of India’ will be held at Tasveer Gallery at Sua House, 26/1, Kasturba Cross Road, (near the British Library) till March 20, 10 am to 7 pm. Parkinson’s work is an unrivalled 20th century photographic portfolio.

He was an incisive portraitist and photographed many of the greatest icons of the 20th century as well as some of the world’s most beautiful women.

An exploration

Art walks are being conducted by National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) on Wednesdays (3 pm) and Saturdays (10.30 am).

Sari exhibition

An Ugadi sari sale by Usha Sridhar from Chennai will be held at Canara Union, 42, 13th Cross, 8th Main, Malleswaram from March 8 to 11. Hand-picked handloom silk saris from Kanchi in unusual combinations will be the highlight.

Periapalayam silk cotton, Rasipuram and Chettinad cotton saris with ethnic block prints and Jacuard Kanchi cotton saris with heavy designs and blouses, will be available. There will also be fabrics with Warli, Madhubani, abstract, geometric and floral works at the exhibition.

‘Vanity Bag’

Theatre festival

‘Jail to Jail’, the four-day theatre festival by prisoners, will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra till March 10, 6.30 pm. Some of the plays that will be staged are ‘King Lear’, Shivaratri and Gokarnada Gowdashani.

Play on

The play, ‘A Twist of Lime’, will be staged at Jagriti from March 9 to 25. Author Anita Nair adapts three of her short stories for the stage, tying them together with a thread of irony that will make one laugh and wince. It is directed by Vivek Madan. The cast includes Rahul George, Rijul Ray, Padmaja Nagarur, Vandana Prabhu, Jimmy Xavier, Shobita Mampilly and Polina Schapova. Tickets are available on www.book­myshow.com.
