30-yr-old killed
A man was fatally knocked down by a two-wheeler on Hosur Road near Silk Board Junction on Wednesday night. Girish Kumar (30) from Kerala, was on his way home after shopping at a mall for Onam. Girish and his wife were trying to cross the road when a speeding scooter rammed into them. Girish, who sustained injuries, was shifted to St John's hospital and after a few hours, he was declared dead.
Held for cheating
The City police arrested a man on charges of cheating and recovered diamond necklace worth around Rs 10 lakh from him. The accused Manchal Nazeer (37), a native of Raichur, had allegedly cheated Jagadish. Both knew each other as they were into mining business. When Jagadish was looking out for a buyer to sell the necklace, Nazeer intervened and convinced him that he could get a good price, using his contacts. Once he got the necklace, he did not turn up.
In turn, he fled to Jaipur and sold the jewel to Manish for Rs 4 lakh. The next day, Nazeer hoodwinked Manish, stole the necklace and came to Hyderabad. On a tip-off, the Jaipur police arrested him and the City police got him on body warrant and recovered the property.
