H1N1: 4 more deaths, 19 fresh cases

Three of the four cases were reported from different private hospitals. Of the victims, a 27-year-old man died on September 2 and a 31-year-old man died the previous day. The death of a 41-year-old man was reported on August 29. The test results of all these patients turned positive on Thursday.

A 38-year-old woman succumbed to the H1N1 Influenza at Victoria Hospital on September 1.
Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr B G Tilak said that the woman was already in a critical condition when she was admitted on August 31.  “The patient’s swab was collected and Tamiflu was administered, but she could not survive and expired the following day”.

The Health Department is adamant on not revealing the names of the hospitals where H1N1 deaths have occurred.   Joint Director (Communicable Diseases) Dr Cheluvaraj said, all the four died due to delay in admission as they had been suffering with flu symptoms for at least a week. Meanwhile, 19 fresh cases were tested positive  and the total number of positive cases has risen to 536 in the State.
