'Lankesh 77' in City on March 11

Lankesh77, an event to celebrate renowned journalist P Lankesh’s 77th birth anniversery and seventh anniversery of ‘Lankesh,’ will be organised at St Aloysius Degree College hall on Sunday from 10.30 am to 8 pm.

Addressing a news conference on Friday, Lankesh Editor-in-Chief Gauri Lankesh said that the event, which is being held for the first time outside Bangalore, will be inaugurated by Devanuru Mahadeva. On the occasion, four important books will be released, which include ‘Panchali,’ which will be released by Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, along with ‘Mareyuva Munna,’ ‘Helutene Kelu’ and ‘Nanna Preethiya Bharata,’ a Kannada translation of Jim Corbett’s ‘My India’. The inaugural programme will be presided over by Gauri lankesh while Lankesh Editor Pravathesh and Komu Souhardha Vedike Leader K L Ashok will be present.

The first session will be on problems faced by coastal region. Thinker G Rajashekar will present a paper on this topic while Vittal Hegde and Bhoomi Gowda will deliver talks. Dr H S Anupama, Hayavadhana Upadhyaya, P V Mohan, Vasudeva Belle will respond. Writer Sara Abubakker will preside and Ismath Fajeer will moderate.

‘Karnatakada Tallanagalu’ will be the second discussion where K Phaniraj will present a paper. Rajaram Tholpadi will preside while Shashidhar Hemmadi will moderate.

In the valedictory meet, ‘Samana-Sauhardha Karnataka’ will be the topic of discussion where Lankesh Editor Parvathesh will present a paper. A K Subbaiah will preside while Doddipalya Narasimhamurthy will moderate. On the occasion, ‘Mistake,’ a play written by Sadath Hasan Manto will be staged by Rathabeedi Geleyaru, Udupi, at 6.30 pm.
