Meet on theatre on March 27

Researchers and scholars from various fields and disciplines will present papers on various topics pertaining to Indian and Kannada theatre at the two-day national conference on “Myth and ritual in Indian theatre” to be held at the Bangalore University (BU) on March 27 and 28, 2012. 

 The seminar, being organised as part of the World Theatre Day, will focus on the works of Kannada playwrights such as Chandrashekhar Kambar, Girish Karnad, H S Shivaprakash and others who used myths and rituals in their plays. 

Research scholars can send abstracts on such themes as “Negotiations of myths in Indian theatre”, “Use of myth in theatre during the nationalist struggle”, “Comparative study of myths in different playwrights”, “Folk theatre and myths”, “Myth in folk plays and pre-modern plays”, etc.
