JOIN USA Bangladeshi man took his own life by jumping in front of a train after seeing the body of his wife, who had committed suicide, police said Saturday.
The man was identified as 35-year-old Rafiqul Islam Tota, commercial manager of a garments shop in Dhaka. His wife was 30-year-old Sheuli Khanam Shilpi, a homemaker.
Both hailed from Rupsha in Khulna district and were staying in Dhaka, the Daily Star reported.Police said they found the hanging body of the woman around 9.30 p.m. Friday.
Rafiqul, on reaching home at night, found a room locked from the inside. He repeatedly knocked on the door and on getting no response broke into the room. There he found his wife hanging from the ceiling fan with a scarf around her neck.
Unable to bear his wife's death, Rafiqul ran away and jumped in front of an express train around 10 p.m., police said. Sources said the couple had a fight in the morning. They left behind a four-year-old son.
