32 couples enter wedlock in mass marriage

Amidst Vedic chants, as many as 32 couples tied the nuptial knots at a mass marriage organised by Punjalkatte Swasthik Friends Club on Sunday.

Guruvayanakere Vedamurthy Krishna Bhat performed various rituals. The marriage was held under the guidance of Swasthik Friends Club Founder President M Thungappa Bangera and entrepreneur Munnalayiguthu Sacchidananda Shetty.

The procession of the marriage was held from Punjalkatte Basavanagudi to Kattemane Maidan. The procession had folk teams performing, ‘Chende,’ ‘Oalaga’ and ‘Keelukudure.’

The particiapants were welcomed by offering ‘jaggaery water,’ beetle leaves and arecanut.
 
The mass marriage was inaugurated by Police officer from Mumbai Prakash Bhandary. Karikanje Kshethra seer Muktananda Swamiji blessed the occasion.

Entrepreneur from Bellary Suresh Shetty, Ravi Poojary were conferred with ‘Swasthi Siri’ award on the occasion. Sundarraj Mumbai, Dinesh Kulal, Venkatesh Bantwal, Bhaskar, Dejappa, Bachakere, Diwakara Rao Kedige, Shailesh Kumar Nayanadu, Swarnalatha Vasanth Hegde, Seetharam Hegde Hosmane, Naveen Shetty, Bhaskar Shetty, Uday Kumar Kattemane werefelicitated on the occasion.

Coastal Development Authority Chairman B Nagaraj Shetty, Balbhavan Society President Sulochana Bhat, former MLA K Padmanabha Kottari and others were present at the programme.
