India gets first-ever quintuplets

In the first case of successful quintuplets in India, a 24-year-old woman on Friday gave birth to five babies at a private hospital here. Sabeera Khan, a housewife from Mira Road, delivered male quintuplets at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in suburban Andheri. “It is the first case of male quintuplets in India where all babies have survived. In earlier cases, not all the five babies have survived, with some of them dying within hours,” Dr Suchitra Pandit, Head of Gynaecologist department at the hospital said. “Of the five babies, two are on ventilator and the remaining in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.”
