DVS will present budget: BSY

Putting an end to speculations, BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa on Friday said Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will present the State budget proposals on March 21.

Yeddyurappa’s loyalists had given Gowda the jitters by repeatedly stating that “it would be a BJP chief minister” who would present the State budget, fuelling speculation on the future of the Gowda government.

Even Yeddyurappa, on his arrival in Bangalore on Thursday night from Rajasthan, where he visited some temples, had made a cryptic remark stating “the chief minister will present the budget” but did not name Gowda.

Yeddyurappa has been keeping his cards close to his chest and even his close associates have been kept in the dark about his next move.

When asked by mediapersons in Bangalore, Yeddyurappa said he did not meet any BJP central leaders during his two-day visit to New Delhi. He expressed confidence that the BJP candidate would emerge victorious in the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha bypoll.

The BJP State Election Committee will meet in Bangalore on Saturday evening to finalise its candidate for the Rajya Sabha poll. Party State president K S Eshwarappa said of the four seats going to polls, the party would comfortably win two given its numerical strength in the Legislative Assembly.
