2,000 houses sanctioned

As many as 2,000 houses have been sanctioned in the first phase to the taluk to create huts-free villages, said legislator V Muniyappa.

He was speaking after performing the ground-breaking ceremony for asphalting of 1.7 km stretch between Goramadugu and K Muthukadahalli and construction of cement road at a cost of Rs five lakh at Harijan Colony in Goramadugu.

Beneficiaries will be selected by the end of April and will be allotted houses. In the second phase 2,500 houses will be allotted to beneficiaries who live in old, dilapidated, tile, tin and hay roof houses, he said.

He said that as the funds sanctioned to the beneficiaries under the housing scheme, is directly transferred to their bank accounts, there was no problem of touts or  middlemen.

Taluk Panchayat president B N Venugopal, Zilla Panchayat member M S Narayanaswamy, former president R Srinivas, KPCC SC division State Co-ordinator Kothnuru Gnanesh, leaders B N Krishnappa, Kyatappa, APMC president Ranganna, Dalit leader Devaraj and others were present.
