Huge arms haul on Indo-Pak border

The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a major intrusion from across the border on Monday morning after soldiers shot down three Pakistani intruders and confiscated huge contraband, arms and ammunition from them.

The 22-kg heroin seized from the intruders is estimated at Rs 110 crore in the international market.

The Pakistani nationals were trying to smuggle in drugs in plastic pipes. It was a security camera that spotted three Pakistani nationals approaching an area under the Dharma border outpost in Amarkot sector on the Indo-Pak border near Taran Taran in Punjab.

A team of BSF officers and jawans asked the Pakistani intruders to halt. The command was not heeded. Instead, the intruders opened fire. The BSF returned fire killing them on the spot after a brief encounter.

A combing and search operation was launched thereafter. Heroin weighing 22 kg,  a gun, 10 live cartridges, 2 mobile phones, Rs 200 in Pakistani currency and an empty fired case were seized from the spot.
