'Vokkaligas to teach lesson to BJP'

Even as former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa is camping with the BJP MLAs, threatening to bring down the government if he is not reinstated, Vokkaliga leaders in Dakshina Kannada have urged him not to dislodge D V Sadananda Gowda from the chief minister’s post.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Vokkaligara Yane Gowdara Seva Sangha, Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu district President M P Umesh said that if the BJP High Command asks Gowda to step down from the post, then the community leaders in Dakshina Kannada will teach a lesson to the MLAs of the district during election.

“If any attempt is made to dislodge Gowda, then the community members in Dakshina Kannada will distance themselves from the BJP as long as B S Yeddyurappa is in the party.” If the BJP MLAs from Dakshina Kannada district had performed their duty effectively, the situation would have been different in the State, he said.

Former President Lokayya Gowda alleged that Yeddyurappa has been engaged in troubling Gowda since he took charge as the Chief Minister. Normally, Opposition leaders level allegations against the ruling party and the Chief Minister. Unfortunately, here the ruling party leaders are engaged in troubling the administration of the state government, he said.

“By making use of the MLAs from Veerashaiva community, Yeddyurappa has been engaged in cheap politics to come back to power. His act is an insult to the civilised society. “He is engaged in blackmail tactics to come back to power,” he alleged.

In fact, Yeddyurappa wants to claim the credit for the pro-people budget. Budget can be presented by only those who has worked for preparing it and has a thorough knowledge on it. The budget should be presented by Gowda only, he said and asked why Gowda should step down as Chief Minister? There are several charges against Yeddyurappa.

Unlike Yeddyurappa, Gowda was not involved in denotification, mining scams and transfer issues, he added.

The Udupi Vokkaligara Yane Gowdara Seva Sangha has already submitted a memorandum to Governor warning of intensifying the protest if Gowda is asked to step down.
