A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death by his neighbour after an altercation in Mangolpuri area of outer Delhi, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Shakir, a resident of Y Block in Mangolpuri.
His brother, Mohammad Aasif, also received stab wounds in the incident which took place at around 11 pm on Monday.

“We had received a call at the police control room reporting that two men had been stabbed in Y Block, said a senior police officer.

“When a team reached the spot, they were informed that Shakir and Aasif were taken to nearby Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital,” the officer added.

The two brothers had received deep wounds, but Shakir succumbed before treatment.
He was stabbed on his right shoulder and abdomen, while his 24-year-old brother was stabbed on the right side of his shoulder.

“Shakir passed away due to internal injuries and excessive bleeding.” the official said.
“Aasif was discharged after treatment on Tuesday eve-ning,” he added.

A case has been filed at Mangolpuri police station and investigation taken up.

The charges are of murder and attempt to murder under section 302 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code.

Enmity
Initial investigation revealed that Shakir’s family had personal enmity with the family of neighbouring Salman, 22, since they were not invited to attend Aasif’s wedding on March 2.

“The family of the deceased alleges that the two families were involved in a heated argument which soon turned violent,” the official said.

“They claim that Salman then came out of his house with a knife and stabbed the two brothers,” the official added.

Accused absconding
Police have been looking for Salman, who is absconding since the incident took place. They have also questioned his family members to gather clues.

Shakir had a garment shop in Mangolpuri and was married.

His body has been handed over to his family after post-mortem.
