Belgium to renovate 14 railway stations in India

Belgium has tied up with the Indian Railways to renovate 14 railway stations in India.

Belgium's ambassador to India Pierre Vaesen Wednesday said the project was proposed to be taken up in public-private partnership. It covers railway stations in metropolitan cities.

The ambassador was interacting with representatives of industry, especially from energy and environment sectors, at a meet organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)
According to him, Belgium is India's second largest trade partner from Europe, next only to Britain.

"The gems and jewellery segment is very strong in Belgium and we have good business relations with India in this segment, especially with the state of Gujarat," he said.

Vaesen said his country was looking for tie-ups in the areas of renewable energy, research and development, biotechnology and education.

Suchitra Ella, chairperson, CII Andhra Pradesh highlighted the salient features of Indo-Belgian trade relations and the role the CII played to strengthen the relationship.
