A woman was allegedly done to death by her paramour on the premises of K R Hospital in the city on Friday night. The incident came to light on Saturday, when the accused all set to dispose the body, was intercepted by the police.

The deceased is identified as Lakshmi (40), wife of late Muniswamy and the accused is Siddaraju. Both Lakshmi and Siddaraju were working at the canteen run by Soori at the hospital.

Lakshmi, who was in relation with Srinivas earlier, later came in contact with Siddaraju. They knew each other for the past two years. Both were sleeping on the pavement of the canteen daily — after the day’s work, according to their employer.

Confession

Quoting Siddaraju’s confessional statement, Devaraja police said both quarrelled over an issue. In a fit of rage, Siddaraju forcibly hit on her forehead with an heavy object, resulting in the latter’s death. He tried to hush up the case and also called Lakshmi’s daughter Bhavani over phone on Saturday morning, to say that her mother has had a fatal slip.

Trips

Unaware that Bhavani was out of station at that time, he took the body in a car to her hut in a slum near fountain circle. After learning that Bhavani had gone to a relative’s place for Ugadi festival, he returned with the body to K R Hospital.

Later, it didn’t take much time for the fellow workers to suspect something fishy. Soon they informed Devaraja police station, located at a stone’s throw distance.

Siddaraju has been arrested and a murder case is registered against him.
