Earlier, U B Ulavi, Under Secretary of the College Education Department had issued an order with an effect to suspend Krishnappa on the charges of irregularities in the examination conducted by the KPSC on June 19, for First Grade Assistant’s post.

Apart from him, Sericulture Lecturer Rahamathulla and First Grade Assistant at the college, K N Ramaswamy were also suspended.

Action was taken against the accused under, Karnataka Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeals) Rules 1957, rule 10 (1).

Meanwhile som of the lecturers and students on the direction of the higher authorities of the college, submitted a memorandum to MLAs to put pressure on the government to reinstate the Principal.

‘B V Krishnappa is honest. So please pressurise the government to withdraw his suspension order,’ the memorandum said.

Taking further steps students also staged a protest in front of Assistant DC against suspension order of the Principal.

Speaking on the matter, a lecturer told Deccan Herald: “There were many complaints against B V Krishnappa, including irregularities in exam. On this basis there was a demand to suspend him or to at least transfer him. The Vigilance Squad of Bangalore University also had submitted a report to the government regarding this. The then Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya had promised action against the Principal after receiving the report. But no action was initiated.”

“But within some days of Acharya’s demise, a direction was issued to suspend Krishnappa, following which, the principal and some of the college staff met influential persons in and organisations close to the government. They also tried to pressurise the Chief Minister and ministers to withdraw the order. But their efforts did not yield result till date,” the lecturer added.
