Pregnant woman succumbs to H1N1 flu

Health authorities on Sunday confirmed that the 29-year-old woman, who died earlier this week was due to A (H1N1 ) Influenza.

Unabated deaths
Deaths due to H1N1 Influenza continued unabated in the City with the disease claiming two more lives including the pregnant woman, taking the toll to 43 in the State on Sunday.
The 29-year-old woman, who was 20 weeks into pregnancy, succumbed to the Influenza four days ago in a private hospital. Her swab result tested positive for the flu on Sunday.
According to Dr Vasudeva Murthy, State Surveillance Officer, the woman had multi-systematic infection and expired due to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, he said that he was unable to furnish more details without the case sheet.
The other victim, a 24-year-old woman, who was diagnosed of diabetes, expired in a private hospital on September 4. She was also confirmed positive for H1N1 after the results of her swab test came two days later on September 6.

17 cases test positive
Meanwhile, 17 more cases were tested positive for H1N1 Influenza in the State. Among  these, 14 cases were identified in Bangalore, two in Bijapur and one in Mysore.
Till date, 587 have tested
positive for the Influenza in the State.
