Coming down heavily on the city commissionerate cops who failed to crack the Panjimogaru double murder of Razia and her daughter Fathima Zuha, Democratic Youth Federation of India, Students Federation of India and Janavadi Mahila Sangatane took out a 12 km protest march from Panjinamogaru to Mangalore City Commissionerate office on Monday.

“If the Mangalore City Commissionerate cops cannot crack the Panjinamogaru double murder case then let them hand it over to the COD or CBI. The murder shook entire Mangalore on June 28 and the cops are trying to bury the issue. They want people to forget it,” alleged DYFI District President Muneer Katipalla.

He warned that if the case is not solved within a week then the protest will be intensified. “A post card protest, torch light march will be held. With lethargic attitude of the cops the criminals have the confidence that they can escape easily,” he said.Lashing at former district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, he said that the organisation had staged a protest in front of Palemar’s office on January 20. However, he paid no heed. “The tears of the innocent people who have been murdered has affected him as now he is suspended due to the porn gate issue,” he said.Janavadi Mahila Sangatanay leader Bharati Bolar said that the state government says that women are worthy of worship on one hand, but does nothing for them.

Due to the double murder case, peace has been hampered in Panjimogaru. People are looking at one another in suspicion, she said.

CITU General Secretary Vasanth Achary said that the police force does not lack resources and with the latest technological advancements solving crime cases has become easy.

“Political pressure could be a reason for the cops not solving the crime. They should speak out in open if they are facing such pressures. If the culprits are not caught we shall go to an extent of camping here,” he said.

A memorandum was submitted to Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh.
