Facility Management training

What’s your innovation?

Accenture, in partnership with Yahoo India, has launched the first edition of ‘Innovation Jockeys’, a hunt for India’s most innovative minds across campuses in India. Winners of this award will be selected by an eminent jury and the winning team will walk away with a trip to France. Nominations are open to final-year undergraduate and graduate students across India who wish to make a difference to their college, city or home. The last date for submitting entries is March 31, 2012.

The contest, themed ‘Everyday Innovations for Home, College and City’, is aimed at discovering bright, young, home-grown innovators and encouraging them to push their potential to take on the responsibility to drive significant changes to the environment around them.

To participate in this contest, students need to submit their entries online through a microsite developed for the contest — http://innovationjockeys.yahoo.net. The entries would be evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Nagesh Kukunoor, Filmmaker, R Sukumar, Editor, Mint, Sudhir Dixit, Director, HP Labs, Kishore Swaminathan, Global Director of Research, Accenture Technology Labs  and Shouvick Mukherjee CEO, Yahoo! India. The best entry will win a trip to the Accenture Technology Labs, Sophia Antipolis (France) and an Apple goodie bag for each team member, in a grand awards ceremony which will be held at Bangalore in April.

Lectures on urban transformation

In collaboration with MOD Institute Bangalore/Berlin, a series of lectures titled “Talk of the Town” will be presented at the Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore on March 29, 2012 at 6 pm. These lectures will critically address issues related to urban transformation in India in applied and innovative ways, under the aegis of ‘Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities’. Free coaching for meritorious students

Forum for Excellence in Education, a Trust for promoting quality in education, will provide free coaching for IITJEE (2012-2014) by selecting up to 30 super meritorious students (SMS 30). SMS-30 of Bangalore is a project to recognise and reward hard working students.

A talent search test (TST) will be conducted to select merit students. They will go through a comprehensive learning experience and will be ready not only for IITJEE, but also for other entrance examinations like AIEEE, CET etc., in addition to Board examinations. Students appearing for SSLC/Class 10, in March/April, 2012 may register for the TST, by e-mail, post or in person at the Forum office.

The TST will be held on April 1, 2012 for CBSE/ICSE students from 9 am to 12 noon and April 18, 2012 (Wednesday) for SSLC students, from 2 pm to 5 pm, at the Forum premises. Learn Mandarin

The Bangalore chapter of the Chinese Institute of Chennai conducts a 40-hour course in conversational Mandarin (Level 1), reading and writing skills in Pinyin.

Pinyin is a Romanised form of written Chinese, used to represent Chinese words with Roman letters. The institute also offers Level 2, where one can learn to read and write characters along with advanced grammar and pre-requisites of the language. The weekend course of five hours each is available on Saturdays and Sundays for 4 weeks.
