The Minister, however, did not divulge details of month-wise release of water to Tamil Nadu, as specified in the final award.

Asked whether Karnataka is pursuing the Hogenakal boundary issue, Bommai said the State has written to the Prime Minister seeking his intervention. At the same time, the State is exploring legal options and has sought the opinion of legal experts on the issue, he added.

Besides, the Minister said the Cauvery Niravari Nigam is taking up modernisation of 20 canals built by the erstwhile Maharajas of Mysore in the Cauvery basin region, at a cost of Rs 400 crore.

Once modernised, about 97,000 acre of agriculture land will be irrigated, he pointed out.
