Boat mishap: 2 bodies found

Body of Jagadish was recovered four days after the incident, on Tuesday morning at 10.30 am while body of his nephew Vishwas was recovered on Monday morning.
Jagadish’s body was found at Shiragolu-Muranagundi area, which is about 4 kmts away from the spot where the boat toppled.

The body was traced by locals Harish, Peter and Sadananda. The bloated body was sent to Balehonnur Health Centre for post mortem and was later handed over to the relatives.

The body of Vishwas was recovered at Kudureabbi area, which is about 1 kilometre away from the accident spot. The body was stuck on a submerged tree trunk, 10 feet deep in the river. It is said that the nose of the boy was bleeding and he must have suffered a heart attack immediately after falling into water. The body was sent to Balehonnur Primary Health Centre for post mortem and was later handed over to the parents. The last rites of the boy took place at Siddapura on Monday evening. Meanwhile, Mahesh and Jayashree, parents of Vishwas are undergoing treatment at Chikmagalur government hospital as the couple are under shock of losing both their children Vishwas and Varshini and Jayashree’s brother Jagadish in the mishap.
The last rites of Jagadish were performed on Tuesday evening in absence of his pregnant wife Ashwini who has been admitted to N R Pura hospital.

District administration along with political leaders visited the house of Jagadish at Balegadde and handed over a cheque for Rs 1 lakh to Jagadish’s mother Rathnamma on Tuesday. Body of Jagadish’s niece Varshini has not yet been traced.
