Raju's condition stable, to stay in ICU

On Monday evening, authorities at the Chanchalguda Jail, where Raju was imprisoned with seven others accused in the Rs 7800-cr Satyam accounting fraud, gave him first aid treatment as he complained of chest pain. He was later shifted to NIMS.

Conducting various tests on him, doctors said the cause of the pain can be determined only after evaluating the reports. NIMS Resident Medical Officer M Srinivas said that conclusions cannot be made without evaluating all the test outcomes.

Though initial examinations revealed a mild chest infection, Raju’s lawyer Bharat Kumar claimed that he suffered from heart attack.

Kumar said that Raju was not keeping well for the past ten days and was taken to NIMS twice for treatment. He said Raju’s arteries were blocked for quite some time and a surgery was necessary but his other medical complications prevented the doctors from performing the procedure. Raju suffers from hypertension and has Hepatitis C.
