BBMP initiates action on lake, road humps

Action has also been initiated by the Palike to deploy security for the lake, to avoid encroachment and to avoid unauthorised dumping of debris. Action will also be taken in consultation with M S Vydehi Hospital authorities to set up a Sewage Treatment Plant for the area.

Speed breakers
Responding to another story published on August 20 2009, “BBMP bumps into more humps”, the Palike issued the following statements:
As per the budget for the year 2009-10, under the Road Safety programme, as much as Rs 71.25 lakh was allocated to construct road humps as prescribed by the Indian Road Congress (IRC) rules. Nearly 125 humps and 131 elevated pedestrian crossings were created after a survey for the city roads.

The Palike further stated that altogether 336 illegal road humps were identified in consultation with the traffic police to reconstruct in Bangalore city with 254 fresh road humps and 34 proposed speed breakers. The project is likely to begin soon.  According to the BBMP, in future, all speed breakers will be constructed in consultation with traffic police, people’s representative and the citizens of Bangalore.
