Cricket talent hunt through KPL prism

Quality fare expected from Uthappa, Pandey & others

Let the show begin!

There was this long-standing cry over the measly emergence of talent from the State stables.

Understandably, a lot of eyes will be hungry to see the appearance of a youngster who can carry the dreams of the State on his shoulders in the footsteps of the likes of Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath.

There are eight teams competing in the “Namma KPL,” and that uncut diamond could emerge from any one of them. Watch out!

Under scrutiny

It is not be just the rise of a dream player, but the tournament as a whole will be under scrutiny.

The opening day’s matches — Provident Bangalore vs Mangalore United and Bangalore Brigadiers vs Belagavi Panthers — will offer a chance for every one involved to judge the most likely road the KPL will take in the coming days.

There were moments of indecision and some strong opinions against the whole concept, but come Wednesday all will be forgotten for the time being as the focus will be on the cricket on offer.

Some good quality cricket can go a long way in wiping out the apprehensions surrounding the KPL and those hopes will be directly linked with the likes of Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, R Vinay Kumar, B Akhil and V S Thilak Naidu.

So, it’s time to witness the final evolution of the weeks-long strenuous act of putting together thousands of shards from every corner, time to watch a very meticulously nurtured baby taking its first public steps. Unsteady or confident, we will have to wait to find out.
