Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has alleged that Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Siddaramaiah had received Rs 20 crore from former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa during the last eight by-elections held in the State.

He told mediapersons here on Thursday that Siddaramaiah should introspect before criticising the JD(S). He asked whether Siddaramaiah and Yeddyurappa had entered into an agreement and whether the former was acting as per the advice of Yeddyurappa.

Veerashaiva support

“To get the support of Veerashaiva community, Yeddyurappa is projecting former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and me as supporters of Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who also belongs to the Vokkaliga community,” he added.

Many leaders who left Janata Parivar and joined BJP are now feeling alienated, said Kumaraswamy. He added that many leaders had suggested him to unite the MLAs of North Karnataka region who were disappointed with the BJP. Siddaramaiah should not criticise JD(S) when he is a servant of Sonia Gandhi, he added.

Ministers and MLAs should have visited the drought-hit areas three or four months ago, but they are doing it now.

Politics should not be played in the name of drought, he said and added that a memorandum in this regard had been submitted to the chief minister.

Committees comprising all-party workers and citizens should have been constituted in drought-hit areas to check the misuse of funds meant for drought relief works, he said.

The State government should implement permanent drinking water project and should also fill the tanks with flood water. This would provide water for the cattle and would also avoid excess flow of water to other states, Kumaraswamy added.
