Rich haul in school teacher's house

The Lokayukta police raided a school teacher in Hospet on Thursday and found moveable and immoveable assets worth Rs 61.14 lakh.

The primary school teacher at a government school Jadesh Reddy was raided after complaints about him surfaced for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Lokayukta police said Reddy was suspected to be involved in assisting transfers and was also into money lending.

Gold weighing 616 gms and silver weighing 3.3 kg were recovered from his house in addition to Rs 9.57 lakh in cash, documents pertaining to 12 sites and an agricultural site in Hospet and an Innova car.

In Bagalkot, a block education officer was trapped while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the member of an NGO.

The NGO was involved in bringing schoolchildren who are dropouts back to school and enrolling them.

The government had given a grant of Rs 1 lakh to the NGO for its work. Bommegowda, the block education officer demanded Rs 50,000 to release the money. The Lokayukta police arrested Bommegowda and registered a case.
