10 arrested, big haul of illicit liquor in city

Ahead of Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections, 10 people were arrested for supplying illicit liquor across the national Capital. A large haul of liquor was seized.

Three people were arrested from south east Delhi and around 2,000 quarters of illicit liquor was seized. Pappu, a resident of Tughlakabad was arrested with 240 quarters. While Dinesh, resident of Okhla Phase-I was arrested with 94 quarters in his possession, Charan Singh of Faridabad was arrested with 1,000 quarters of liquor.

“A Honda City car was seized from Badarpur from which 672 quarters of illicit liquor recovered, however, the driver fled away,” said Ajay Chaudhry Additional Commissioner of Police (south east).
Liquor worth Rs 2 lakh was also seized in south west Delhi.

Four people were arrested in different raids. While, two bootleggers were arrested with 480 bottles, 3246 quarters were seized from Dawrka Sector 23. The other two were caught from Najafgarh with 1600 bottles of illicit liquor.  Ajay Taneja was arrested in west Delhi with 60 bottles of wine and 24 half bottles of illicit liquor.

In outer Delhi, Raj Kumar and Deen Dayal, residents of Nihal Vihar were arrested 60 cartons of illegal liquor on Wednesday evening, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) B S Jaiswal.
