Red Ribbon Express comes to City

The Red Ribbon Express-III, a train which travels across the country to create awareness on HIV/AIDS will arrive at the Cantonment Railway Station on Monday.

The specially designed Express will travel across 23 states and cover 162 halt stations. It consists of three coaches with exhibits related to HIV and AIDS, while the fourth coach is about National Rural Health Mission and with exhibits on tuberculosis, malaria, reproductive and child health services, general health and hygiene.

There will be one coach for counseling and another for training local stakeholders like members of panchayat raj institutions, self-help groups, health workers, youth organisations, teachers, police personnel. 

The project will focus on disseminating information on primary prevention, creating awareness about the infection, reducing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS and enhancing people’s knowledge.
