A bharatanatyam recital by Seshadri Iyengar will be held at the MES College, 15th Cross, Malleswaram on April 22, 6.30 pm. This is being held as part of the ‘MES Kalavedi Dance Festival’. Entry is free.


The Natyalakshana Akademy is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore in the City. ‘Insight’, an interpretation of Tagore’s music in Carnatic style, will be presented by Suma Sudhindra and party on April 21, 6.30 pm at Chowdiah Hall. On the same day, the dance-drama Maa Nishada in kathakali will be staged by the ‘Kerala Kalamandalam’ Group.

This is BCKA’s first own production and the kathakali adaptation is conceived and visualised by Lalitha Das. On April 22, ‘Musical Verses’, a tribute to Tagore by the Bangalore School of Music, will be held at 6 pm. On the same evening, ‘The Garland of Seasons’, Tagore’s songs in various styles, will be presented by the Natyalakshana Akademy.


Vyjayanthi and Prateeksha Kashi will be presenting a kuchipudi dance feature, called ‘Kuchipudi Traditions and  Innovations’ on April 20, 6 pm at MES Kalavedike, Malleswaram.

Varied treat

Indiranagar Sangeeta Sabha is presenting a homage to Rabindranath Tagore on April 28, 6 pm with a bharata­natyam recital by Prakruti Hoskere and Divya Hoskere and a puppetry performance by Dhaatu Puppet Theatre. The programme concept is by Usha Venkateswaran, director, Natyalakshana Akademy. Entry is free.

‘Sarvam Shivam’

Chitra Arvind is presenting Sarvam Shivam, a bharatanatyam recital in the Margam format, on April 21, 6.30 pm with live music ensemble, comprising well-known musicians of Bangalore, at Vidyasagara Prof M P L Sastry Sabhagana, MES College, 15th Cross, Malleswaram.
