Gang of five steals gold jewellery

A group of five people, including three women, visited Labdi Jewellers on Thimmayya Road at Basaveshwaranagar, posing as customers and made away with 130 gm gold jewellery on Tuesday monring.

While the three women tried to divert the attention of the staff at the shop by asking them to show various jewellery, the two men made away with whatever ornaments they could lay their hands on, police said.

They also took away Rs 15,000 in cash from the cash box when the staff went to another room to get specially designed ornaments.

The theft came to light much later, after the group had left the shop.
