Many officials pledge their eyes in B'lore

The event was held at Vidhana Soudha to mark the Eye Donation Fortnight from August 25 to September 8.
According to Narayana Nethralaya, there are an estimated 12 million blind people in the country who are in desperate need of eyes.

Record
Following the death of Kannada film icon Dr Rajkumar, Narayana Nethralaya registered a record number of 25,000 pledgers and around 1,500 deceased cornea have been collected.
Personalities

Some of the prominent personalities have promised to donate their eyes in the eye bank.
They include former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) supremo Deve Gowda, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, Lokayukta Santhosh Hegde, film stars Vishnuvardhan and Shivrajkumar.
