During President Patil’s visit, Russia reiterated its support to enhancing co-operation in the energy sector, including oil, natural gas and nuclear supplies. India is also exploring the possibility of sourcing the hydro-electric power from Tajikistan, which has a potential of 80,000MW. As Dushanbe is closer to New Delhi than many other state capitals in India, evacuation of power will not be a major problem, if the logistics can be worked out.
