A woman and her two accomplices have been arrested for allegedly masterminding a robbery in her husband’s house in Bhajanpura in north-east Delhi.

Police said Anamika, 20, who was living separately from her husband after she was forced out of her house, planned the robbery along with Avnish, 22,  and Subham, 22, as she was finding it difficult to earn her living.

“On April 16, three persons, including Avnish and Subham, robbed Vinod Gupta’s house by entering it in the guise of delivering a courier,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-east ) Sanjay Kumar Jain.

“They robbed gold jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 21,000 cash from Anamika’s mother-in-law when she was alone in the house. The jewellery and cash have been recovered from the accused,” said Jain.

Police said Anamika has confessed to her crime. She told police that she masterminded the crime as she was facing financial crunch and wanted her jewellery back from her in-laws, who had allegedly forced her out of their house.

Anamika told police that her marriage turned sour a few months after her wedding with Ashish.

She claimed she tried to balance the relationship but her husband and in-laws forced her out of the house.

Since then, she was living with her parents. “She made several efforts to resolve the matter but her husband and in-laws did not agree. Her jewellery, which was given to her in her wedding, was also with her in-laws. As she was living separately, she faced financial problems and she hatched the conspiracy,” police said.

A day before the incident, Anamika and her parents went to her mother-in-law’s house to resolve the matter, but her husband and in-laws refused to let them in.
“She befriended Avnish, who lives in her locality and was known to her as he was a tenant of her aunt.

She lured Avnish by saying if he robbed the jewellery, he can also keep some of the loot. Avnish then roped in Shubham, who agreed to do the crime to earn a quick buck. He also engaged his two friends,” Jain said.

As per the plan, Avnish did a reconnaissance of house and on the day of incident, Shubham, Avnish and two others reached near the house. While Avnish remained outside the house, the three others went in and robbed the house, police said.

“A hunt is on to find the two other accused,” the officer said.
