The accused were held on Sunday. They were identified as office boy Yamuna Mandal, and his two friends Mukesh Mandal and Mahendra Mandal from Giridih in Jharkhand, a police officer said.

Police said on April 14, the owner Cosmos Infra Enginerring found that the lockers at his office were broken and Rs 50 lakh cash was missing.

“Administrator of the company Jitendra Jain told police that his office boy  found all the gates and lockers of the office open and Rs 50 lakh was missing when he came to open the office on April 14,” said a senior police officer.

Police registered a case of theft and started interrogating all the employees as investigators believed that it was work of some insider as all the CCTV cameras were taped.

During interrogation, Yamuna broke down and confessed to his crime. He told police had he involved two friends and told them about the cash in the locker. He also made duplicate keys to commit the crime.

He also informed his friends about the CCTV cameras and its whereabouts and asked them to commit burglary during night. His two friends entered into the office and first put tapes on all the cameras and decamped with Rs 50 lakh.

“We have recovered cash and valuables brought with the stolen money,” said the officer.
