Desire to swim cost their young lives

Two youth from the city drowned at Thonnur Kere in Pandavapura on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Basheer Ahmed (20), a resident of Rajendra Nagar and Suhail Ahmed (14) hailing from Shanthinagar.

Police said, Suhail Ahmed had stepped into the water, but slipped and called out for help. Hearing the frantic calls, Basheer Ahmed who tried to save the former also died. Divers pulled out the bodies on Wednesday. Pandavapura police have registered a case.

Car stolen

Miscreants made away with a car, parked at a house at Alanahalli here in the wee hours of Wednesday. Police said the car belonged to Subbegowda, a retired government official, who had left for Hyderabad with his family having locked the house and gate. The miscreants have also taken away a TV and DVD.

Nazarbad police have registered a case.

Bike rider dies

One person was killed in a mishap on Mysore-T Narsipur road here on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh (25) of Kempayyanahundi in the taluk. He was killed when a private bus headed towards T Narsipur rammed into him. Mysore rural police have registered a case.

Chain snatchers strike

Chain snatchers struck in J P Nagar ‘E’ block on Wednesday evening and made away with gold chain weighing 50 gms from a homemaker standing in front of her house. Vidyaranyapuram police have registered a case.
